STRATEGIC PLAN
2025 STRATEGIC PLAN
After a collaboration, facilitated by renowned Australian sports advisor Gemba, with multiple stakeholders including our Member States, the Australian Gridiron Officials Assocation, the Australian Sports Commission, and NFL Australia, American Football Australia (AFA) is proud to share our new strategic plan.
Focusing on ‘why’ people play sport, this plan sets a new direction and vision for American Football over the next 3 years.
Fun, fitness and being part of a welcoming and supportive community are three key reasons people play sport. Working together as AFA, the States and Clubs or leagues to ensure that this is provided is our number one focus.
With the recent move to becoming a dual code National Sporting Organisation (NSO), the AFA Board and our State Sporting Organisations (SSO’s) recognised the need to review the overall strategy for the growth of American Football across Australia.
This strategic plan is the beginning of a new chapter in our sporting history which includes both tackle and flag football.
Our plan provides a holistic focus on improved participant experience supported by a priority on inclusion of both codes, for all genders and a strong youth focus to drive lasting participation in our sport.
Of course, the plan is just the first step in the work that needs to be done to facilitate better experiences at each level of the game, from grassroots to elite competition.
We now commit to create an action plan, that drives the desired outcomes in the plan, by working with key stakeholders to hit the ground running.
"Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable."
