Australian Flag Football Teams Announced for USA Tour and Clash with World Champions

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA April 24, 2025

American Football Australia is proud to announce the junior and senior national squads selected to represent Australia on an upcoming tour to the United States, where they will take on the reigning World Champion USA Flag Football Team in a headline international fixture in Los Angeles this June.

The announcement marks a significant moment in the growth of Flag Football in Australia, as the national elite men’s and women’s squads continue to prepare for major global events including the IFAF Asia Oceania Continentals later this year and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, where Flag Football will debut as an Olympic sport.

The touring squad includes a mix of experienced national representatives and exciting new talent identified through Australia’s junior representative programs, and senior elite pathways and performance programs. Among them is Rugby Union international Quade Cooper, who recently joined the national squad, and Queensland-based standout Kodie Fuller, who currently serves as an NFL and IFAF Global Flag Football Ambassador.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our athletes to test themselves against the very best, and it’s a major step forward in our journey toward the LA28 Olympic Games,” Kelly said.

“Our elite programs have their eyes firmly fixed on the Asia Oceania qualifiers later this year and beyond. We’re building a strong foundation to compete on the world stage, and the growth of the sport here at home is really encouraging.”

“We’re extremely excited by the quality of talent being attracted to Flag Football in this country, and just as excited by what we’re uncovering through our elite and representative pathways.”

“Athletes like Kodie Fuller, who’s making a real impact as a Flag Football Global Ambassador, and now Quade Cooper, who brings a wealth of elite-level experience as a seasoned Rugby Union International, show how appealing Flag Football has become. The standard is rising, and this tour is an important part of our continued development.”

The tour to the USA will serve as a valuable international test and a chance to deepen partnerships with USA Football, while giving Australian athletes exposure to the highest levels of global competition.
