Australian flag football player Liz Lomu-Stewart featured in NFL Flag campaign

Updated: Jul 19

Australian flag football athlete Liz Lomu-Stewart has been featured in the newly released NFL Flag promotional campaign, putting one of the country's top prospects in front of a global audience ahead of the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships in August.

The campaign, featured on NFL AUNZ digital platforms this week, brings together flag football athletes from around the world to mark the sport's rapid international growth. Lomu-Stewart appears as one of its international faces, a rare placement for an Australian in NFL-produced content and a sign of how rapidly the women's game is developing down under.

Her involvement came together during a recent trip to the United States as part of the Las Vegas Raiders Inspire Camp program. Alongside training and time inside the Raiders' football environment, Lomu-Stewart took part in filming for the global campaign, vision that has now reached audiences well beyond Australia.

Reflecting on the trip, Lomu-Stewart described a close-up view of what elite flag football looks like day to day.

"The Las Vegas Raiders 'Inspire’ combine was a standout experience and a true highlight of the trip." "Not only did it provide the opportunity to compete alongside talented athletes, but it also offered a firsthand look at the professionalism, attention to detail, and high-performance standards embedded within the sport."

As flag football continues to develop globally, Lomu-Stewart's appearance in the campaign is another marker of the sport's rapid growth back home on Australian shores.

It also signals that athletes coming through American Football Australia's national program are being noticed at the highest level of the game, putting a name and a face to a sport drawing more women and girls into it every season, a message Lomu-Stewart is keen to pass on.

"There has never been a more exciting time for young girls to get involved in flag football," "From representing their country on the Olympic stage to securing college opportunities and experiencing the world through sport, the possibilities are endless. Flag football offers a genuine pathway for athletes to dream big and achieve even bigger."

Myles Hayes, Senior Director of Football Development at the Las Vegas Raiders, came away impressed by Lomu-Stewart after working with her at the camp.

"Liz is a great athlete and a better person," he said. "She's very intentional about her goals, she asks questions, is a quick learner and has a versatile skill set. She will be successful in anything she does."

Flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and its momentum is about to build again as the game makes its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games, a decision that has changed how federations, athletes and broadcasters approach the sport. Campaigns like this one, featuring players from multiple countries, are part of how the NFL is building the global audience that Olympic inclusion demands.

Lomu-Stewart is a member of the Australian women's national flag football program, and her appearance in the campaign lands at a pivotal moment as she continues to prepare for the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships in August, where a strong result carries direct Olympic qualification stakes for the national squad.

"This experience has given me a new perspective and elevated my goals when preparing for Worlds this August," she said. "With direct Olympic qualification on the line, I'm committed to pushing my limits and competing at my best. I hope my experience can also inspire young Australian female athletes to take up flag football and all the opportunities that come with it.”

For Lomu-Stewart, the campaign is another step forward in a fast-moving story and, for Australian flag football, it is evidence of the strong development programs down under and that the athletes coming through the national pathway can compete and stand amongst the best in the world.
